CTIPP's Free Advocacy Campaign Support for Trauma-Informed Legislation

At the Campaign for Trauma-Informed Policy and Practice (CTIPP), we believe that local voices can create big change. That’s why we’re excited to offer a new, free resource to help you advocate for trauma-informed legislation in your community and state.

Using our new Quorum advocacy software, we’ll create an outreach campaign to connect with targeted legislators and policymakers (via emails, phone calls, and/or social media posts), amplifying your efforts to make a difference.

This service is FREE, and participating campaigns must align with CTIPP’s vision and trauma-informed principles. Beyond the policy, we’re seeking partners whose advocacy and policymaking process is aligned with a trauma-informed approach.

What Types of Trauma-Informed Legislation Are We Looking For?

  • Promotes trauma-informed practices: Even if the policy doesn’t mention “trauma-informed” explicitly, it should encourage systems, programs, or services that recognize and respond to the effects of trauma.

  • Prevents trauma: Legislation that addresses the root causes of trauma, such as poverty, abuse, violence, housing insecurity, or systemic inequities.

  • Supports healing: Policies that provide resources for mental health, education, or community services to help people recover from trauma.

How to Get Started

  1. Prepare Your Legislative Details: Gather information about the domestic-focused bill or policy you’re advocating for, including:

    • Summary or full text of the legislation

    • Which legislators and/or committees are you targeting?

    • Why is the legislation important, and how does it support trauma-informed principles?

    • How do you approach advocacy in trauma-informed ways?

    • What is your elevator pitch for your legislation?

  1. Wait for CTIPP’s Review: We’ll evaluate your submission to ensure it aligns with our mission. Either way, we’ll contact you with the next steps.

  1. Co-Create Build Your Campaign: Once approved, our team will work with yours to co-create an outreach campaign with emails, phone scripts, and/or social media posts.

  1. Launch Your Campaign: We’ll support you in activating the campaign and encouraging your network to participate with templates and copywriting.
